The Widening of the Panama Canal

This month, Juan Carlos Varela, the president of Panama, projects that the widening of Panama Canal should be completed. For a long time, the overall size of the Panama Canal has restricted ships due to the size of its locks. The Panama Canal, once expanded, will become a major shipping lane once again, opening the trade route from the Pacific to the Atlantic without forcing ships through the Strait of Magellan.

Kevin Comstock is our truck driver at Louisville Switching. He loads Ottawa Trucks onto our lowboy trailer and delivers them to our customers, both rentals and leases! He is also the one we send out to a customer's premise to pick up a disabled truck that needs repair. We love Kevin's diligence and positive attitude toward his work. He also has a great sense of humor as you will see by the way he answered the questions below.

Ottawa has been listening to their customers and made some improvements to the brand new T2 model based on the feedback. At the 2016 Mid America Truck Show, Don Robinson took a second to talk about the new features of the Ottawa T2. We were able to get a video of him explaining the new features from inside the cab. Louisville Switching Adds Remote Hour Meters to Ottawa Yard Trucks

Louisville Switching is very excited to announce our partnership with Tracking Solutions, an Australia-based company that provides online GPS tracking systems for engines. With these tracking devices called Remote Hour Meters, we are better able to manage the maintenance of our vehicles as well as seamlessly handle billing for customers. Currently, about 60% of our rental fleet at Louisville Switching has an engine tracking device. We will soon increase the percentage as we gradually equip our fleet of Ottawa Yard Trucks in the region.

As many of you know, our guys at Louisville Switching have been making a herculean effort these past few weeks to complete the refurbishment of an old yard truck to be displayed at our open house this coming Thursday, March 24.
