1. What is your title and duties at Louisville Switching?
My job title is Sales and Leasing Manager. My job is to provide equipment for our customers, answer any questions about the units, service, etc. I also work with the mechanics on any issues that may arise of any concern. Quality, efficiency, and excellent service from all aspects is my responsibility.

Today we're continuing our series on yard truck parts by taking a look at the Cummis Air Compressor (part # 5286968rx).

In the video below, Chris Troutt explains how Ottawa mounts its transmissions vs. how the competition mounts transmissions. 

With Ottawa's new iPad app, Louisville Switching is able to see a direct comparison between what Ottawa offers and what competitors offer. One example of this is the transmission. The transmissions on the Ottawa Yard Truck are built on a shock absorber, so when the truck is going through bumpy terrain, the transmission is not taking a direct impact or beating on the frame. 

The hydraulic system is powered by a power take off (PTO) which is bolted on the side of the transmission and is ran off the gears inside the transmission. The PTO has a hydraulic pump bolted to it with a shaft that has splines that fit into the PTO. The PTO hydraulic pump pumps fluid throughout the system and to the hydraulic valve.

This protection valve is part of the pneumatic system that maintains the air in the brake system and allows air to pass to the trailer and back to the truck.
