YD1-1

We are getting all geared up for our open house on March 24 where we will display our latest Ottawa refurb project! More on the open house next week. We want to walk you through our process so you can see how an old worn-out yard truck can be transformed to look and run like new again. As long as the frame of the truck is good, all of the parts that make up your Ottawa can be repaired or replaced as they wear out, giving your truck another lifespan and saving you money.

One of our customers purchased a truck from us a few years back and recently traded it in for a brand new truck. While this is an option for some larger companies, not all companies have the budget to buy a new truck. You can save a lot of money by choosing to refurbish your truck for another life cycle. A good refurb can add another 10 years to the life of a worn out truck and for some small businesses, this is the option that makes the most sense. Refurbishing is also a responsible method of ownership.

Refurbishing Process

From the beginning, we knew this truck would need some work. The first step was to send it off to the paint shop to have sandblasting and primer work done. Once the truck comes back from the shop, we will get to work on anything that the truck needs mechanically. Most significantly, we will be adding a new Fontaine Armor fifth wheel to the truck.

We love the challenge that each truck brings, and are well-prepared to handle every challenge with the knowledge that we have gained by being a mainline Ottawa dealer. Many dealers carry Ottawa trucks as a secondary product line with their primary focus on Forklifts, trailers or Class 8 trucks, but as an Ottawa mainline dealer, we have experience carrying out repairs on every model of Ottawa truck. So you can rest assured knowing that we can handle whatever challenge your truck may bring.

Different Degrees of Refurbishment

There are many different degrees of refurbishment, from a minor refurbishment where we work mostly on the look of the truck to a major refurbishment, where we replace the entire engine and transmission. We can take anybody's truck and make something out of it.

For this truck, we just did a minor refurbishment, but even a minor refurbishment can make a big difference! Having a refurbished truck will give your drivers a sense of pride and further your efforts towards driver retention. No driver wants to drive a truck that looks old and worn out. If you have a truck that is dated and you want to improve your image, we can make sure it is aesthetically pleasing and mechanically sound.

Two weeks ago we shared a blog about the kickoff of this refurbishment project. Well as promised you can follow along with the work as we move toward the amazing final product. Here are some of the most recent yard truck refurbishment pictures. Stay tuned to our progress in the coming weeks. We can't wait to reveal the finished product to you! Make sure to come see the sneak peak our beautiful new Ottawas at our open house on March 24! If you can't make it then, the trucks will be on display at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
