Managing Parts and Making Life Fun: Meet Robb

DSCN2222Right in the middle of a mud puddle is where you might find Robb Williams when he's not managing parts at Louisville Switching. He's always up for a good water fight, too, when grandkids and warm weather are around. Although Robb is a hard-working guy who is passionate about his job and his customers, he's a big kid at heart who never misses an opportunity to have a little fun.

On a typical day at Louisville Switching, Robb might juggle responsibilities in the refurbishing department, help with some Ottawa wiring, troubleshoot a dash panel problem, or work on redoing a boom. He's been the Parts Manager for two years, but comes to Louisville Switching after 31 years with the Fire Department. After a long awaited retirement, Robb did exactly what most people don't. He went right back to work immediately. It's a decision he doesn't regret one bit.

"I look forward to getting up and going to work every morning. I appreciate the family atmosphere here so much and I cannot ask for a better person to work for than Don. He will listen. If you want a shoulder, he's got a shoulder," Robb said.

Robb tries to model his work habits and business ethics after those at Louisville Switching who have been setting the example. Since Louisville Switching is a business that emphasizes customer service, Robb makes a daily effort to serve each customer fully.

"When I talk to somebody on the phone, I want to feel at home, so when somebody calls us, I try to make them feel at home. If we don't have that part they are looking for in the stock room, we need to search for that part whether it's in the state or not, we need to find it. We really want 200% and we try to get there. I do my best to try to serve people." said Robb.

Louisville Switching President Don Robinson has seen first-hand the devotion Robb has daily in doing his job.

"Robb is so good at working with customers to help resolve their parts needs. For the customer, when they call, it feels to them as if they have called their brother. Robb is loved by our customers as well as our staff," Don says.

The same passion Robb has for serving people at work translates strongly to his home. He has been married to his best friend, Pam, for 25 years and believes strongly that "nobody can replace her." Compounding the joy in his life are his two daughters and his three grandchildren, Julian, Kayelee and Taylor.

Although mud puddles and water fights are common around Robb's house, he also enjoys peaceful, quiet time just hanging out at home with Pam and his dog, Jazzy. You might find them on the weekends watching their granddaughter's horse jumping shows or watching a movie, but whatever the activity, family is key for Robb.

If your business is ever in need of a part or has a parts service need, Robb is always willing to help. He will help you find exactly what you need and he promises not to drag you into a mud puddle.
