louisville ottawa dealerCustomers are asking and Louisville Switching Service Manager Chuck Duggins is answering. Since countless questions come our way on a daily basis regarding all things Ottawa, Chuck has agreed to answer them in our blog series, "Ask Chuck."

This week's Ottawa Yard Truck Question is:

How Do You Compare Curb Weight Versus Gross Weight?

Chuck says:

The curb weight of an Ottawa Truck will be the weight of the truck (14,000) plus the weight of the fuel in the tanks. Curb weight does not include passengers or cargo. Gross weight includes the truck, fuel, passengers, trailers and cargo. The reason someone would need to know the curb weight would be for loading the Ottawa onto a flatbed trailer for transport, or, for calculations to determine a gross vehicle weight when moving trailers with the Ottawa Truck. The curb weight would also be used for companies that scale their Ottawa Trucks attached to a trailer loaded with product for determining product weight.
