Employee Spotlight: Robb Williams

Robb WilliamsToday we're introducing you to another one of our employees, Robb Williams. Robb's experience makes him a great leader and team member here at Louisville Switching. Take a minute to get to know Robb.

What is your previous experience/job history?

District Chief, Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Protection District. Prior to or at the beginning of shift change, coordinate with and receive reports from the off-going District Chief and review the activities for the past two days. Coordination included identification of all out-of-service apparatus and equipment, apparatus and equipment scheduled for maintenance, accountability of portable radios, and any significant events that occurred or were in progress. Confirm that persons scheduled for duty are in fact present for their shift. Coordinate with the Training Officer for training requirements for the current shift, and to report any training activities planned by the shift. Administrative Duties; Prior to completion of shift, assure all calls are logged correctly in “Firehouse Data Reporting System,” EMS reports, and other reports for accuracy and completeness. Ensure that all corrections are made as needed. All reports and records will be completed prior to end of shift and placed in the mailbox for each District Chief of Operations. The Shift Commander is responsible for QC of all of their shifts reports. Notify the Assistant Chief/Operations and Senior Officer on-call to report any apparatus that goes out of service, damage to vehicles or equipment, and any on duty injuries or accidents. Notify the Fire Chief if the above persons are not available. Notify Operations (who will coordinate with the Fire Chief) in a timely manner of all major incidents that may include news media coverage and incidents involving Department personnel or their families, and incidents involving personnel. Shift Coverage. Normal shift coverage is ten (10) persons. Additional staffing may be authorized for special events with prior approval. When filling in personnel that are needed for replacement due to call ins for unknown reason, the District Chief will obtain them from the following sequential sources by using the overtime book. The District Chief makes fire runs and medical runs as needed. The District Chief will assume command and delegate task in which are needed at different types of incidents. The District Chief will assume different roles if needed in the I.C.S. Chief Training Officer, Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Protection District Responsibilities: Perform fire fighting duties as required. Oversee the following areas adhering to N.F.P.A. standards, instruction of firefighters, apparatus driver/operators, and instructor development. Instruct training and public education as needed. Assists, develops and revises class outlines and lesson plans. Evaluate performance standards for recruits and other personnel for training and testing to ensure they are adequately trained. Assists maintain training records. Work with other departments for mutual aid training. Scheduling of classes and instructors. Work close with other departmental personnel for good communications and development of a good team concept. Attend meetings on behalf of the Fire District. Serve as Safety Officer and/or assist the Incident Commander in full filling any needed function within the Incident Command System. Other duties as assigned by the Chief of the department, or other command officers.

Warehouse Forklift Operator, Unisource Responsibilities included picking orders for customers, loading merchandise into trailers and cleaning of warehouse and equipment. 

Highbay Supervisor, The Apparel Group LTD. (Enro Shirt Company) Responsibilities included control of inventory, supervision of 14 employees, cost control, shipping merchandise, meeting shipping deadlines and distribution of work.

Artist/Digitizer, The Apparel Group LTD. (Enro Shirt Company) Responsibilities included receiving orders from customers, drafting designs, inputting designs into computer, which in turn were used to transfer designs onto material desired.

Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, The Apparel Group LTD. (Enro Shirt Company) Responsibilities included the management of receiving and shipping all merchandise, interaction with trucking companies, corporate office, sales personnel, vendors and verification of merchandise. Scheduling of trucking companies for pickup, collection and billing materials. Supervision of 13 receiving employees, and 17 shipping employees.

Chris Troutt was looking for someone to help with cleaning and detailing the trucks. He asked if I would like to do something in that and I said sure.

What do you do on a typical day that helps to keep Louisville Switching running smoothly?

I go in and do whatever needs to be done.

What is unique about your company? What should people know about it?

We try to deliver a good product to our customers and make sure the trucks are in good working order and that they look good as well. I believe quality is the best for our customers and they can rely on us. If they need a part ordered, a truck repaired, we can do it.

Anything else you want to add?

This is a great place to work. I enjoy working here. They treat you like family and we have a good time working. I have learned a lot from the employees here and am thankful for what they have taught me. You cannot ask to be with any better people.
