Job Description: Field Service Technician

We're hiring at Louisville Switching Service, Inc. / Louisville Switching Truck Sales. This is a full-time position.

This position performs duties requiring mechanical skills related to diesel truck engines, trailer repair, and repairing and servicing Ottawa yard trucks and heavy-duty trucks.

Skills & Requirements

• A/C and Cummins certification (may be acquired after employment); CDL helpful, but not
  required
• Welding and torching skills
• Knowledge of air tools, precision measuring instruments, laptops, diagnostic software,
  basic hand tools, cranes, and rigging equipment -- on-job-training provided when needed
• Work in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures; use
  equipment and materials properly
• Follow contamination control as outlined in company guidelines
• Complete DOT physical; submit to routine drug testing
• Provide 24 hour on-call service for customers on weekly rotating basis with other Field
  Service Technicians
• Ability to identify, remove, disassemble, assemble, install, and test parts and components
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot problems and make any critical engine,
  mechanical, and electrical repairs and adjustments
• Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and make repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic, and A/C systems
• Ability to test and verify all repairs and adjustments for proper operation
• Ability to perform federal inspections on trucks and trailers per FHWA guidelines
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with customers; listen intently and respond to
  questions with clarity; remain calm under pressure and in negative situations
• Physical demands include the ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and
  swing arms; may be required to lift and place parts weighing up to 85 pounds
